Built for blacks who worked
in Henry Flagler's Palm Beach, Pleasant City was established in
1905 but not incorporated into the city limits until 1912.
Although rich in history, the neighborhood of mostly frame vernacular
houses has deteriorated from poor construction and years of neglect.
Its street names reflect better times: Beautiful, Contentment, Comfort.
Excerpts from "Pioneers
in Paradise" by Jan Tuckwood and Eliot Kleinberg.
